HNWI Asset Allocation in South Africa expected to decline to 1.7% of the total HNWI assets by 2018

This report is the result of WealthInsight’s extensive research covering the high net worth individual (HNWI) population and wealth management market in South Africa.

In 2013,

·         equities were the largest asset class for South African HNWIs, with 27.1% of total HNWI assets.

·         This was followed by real estate with 26.3%;

·         business interests with 14.7%;

·         cash and deposits with 12.6%;

·         fixed-income with 11.5%; and

·         alternatives with 7.8%.

Alternatives, equities and business interests recorded growth at respective review-period rates of 58%, 58% and 46%.
